Pain at the Pump With or Without Little Green Pill |
|
With the price of gas going sky high, there is a new product called the "little green pill." BioPerformance Fuel markets the pill. BioPerformance claims drivers will see a 25 percent increase in their gas mileage. An Orlando TV station investigation found the pill was too good to be true. WESH TV recruited Dr. Robert Hoekstra. His lab at the college tests race car engines. He put a couple of pills in the gas tank of a minivan, tested it on a treadmill for cars and found "statistically zero increase in performance." Tests by a UCF chemistry professor declared the pill toxic. Florida and the state of Kentucky are investigating BioPerformance. In Texas, the state attorney general has filed a temporary injuction essentially shutting down BioPerformance. Texas alleges the BioPerformance gas saving pill simply does not work and that the compnay is operating a pyramid scheme. |
