The college’s 23-year-old record of "top three in the southeast"
continues. UCF’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science student programming team finished second in the Southeast Regional in Melbourne, Florida. Faculty advisor Dr. Ali Orooji says “ out of more than 6,000 teams from 75 countries, UCF is one of only 80 teams advancing to the World Championship round in April.”
Georgia Tech (coached by a former UCF team member) and UCF
finished 9 out of the 11 problems in the computer programming contest. Georgia Tech finished first based on fewer penalty points.
The University of Florida finished third. Florida State was 31st.
