Orlando Becoming a Hydrogen Highway

Progress Energy and the state of Florida have teamed to test five hydrogen powered Ford Focus cars in Orlando. The car pictured with this story was on display at the college. Each test car costs one-and-half million dollars and averages the equivalent of 40 miles to the gallon. Top speed is around 85 miles an hour. The experimental car is ten to fifteen years away from being in the market.

Hydrogen bus testing is scheduled to begin this year at Orlando International Airport and at the Kennedy Space Center. Hydrogen will soon be providing back-up for the state environmental regulatory office in orlando.
